Any advice on cameras waterproof?

I get a camera for Christmas and I want a raincoat:) I found one that is resistant to water and my budget (it's on sale at Argos for £ 230 to £ 114) called the Olympus Mju 550 camera Photo has 10 MP and a rechargeable battery that is exactly what I want. But my mother is not so sure that just becaue particularly at Argos, which a store is fairly cheap, and not for sale in John Lewis or something, haha so any comments on this camera would be greatly appreciated, whether it is good or bad, and perhaps more recommendations for good in cold water (preferably at least 8 MP) for under £ 130! I read many reviews for the cameras to the test Water less than $ 300 or more shutter lag is essentially the complaint. Does anyone have one that has a low shutter lag? My budget is $ 250 - $ 300 and must be waterproof.
